One commonly encountered personality disorder is Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). A complex disorder, BPD broadly is marked by sensitivity to feelings of abandonment, or of not being accepted. Individuals with BPD often demonstrate impulsive and reckless behavior, and may have difficulty regulating thoughts and emotions. It significantly affects both the individual and his or her relationships. Other disorders (such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse or eating disorders) commonly occur simultaneously with BPD.
Not all individuals who experience any or all of these symptoms have BPD, of course.
Covenant Counseling can offer individuals with questions about BPD an environment to safely gain understanding about themselves. Individuals will work towards developing more healthy responses to their own impulses and emotions, as well as to the behaviors and emotions of others.
