Anna Greene Stanley

Anna is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Supervisor (LPC-S), and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist. After receiving her undergraduate degree in Biology from Samford University, she earned her Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Anna and her husband live in the Birmingham area with their three sons, and enjoy cooking, traveling, music, and spending time with family and friends.
Areas of Focus
Anna is one of the members of the ReVive Program at Covenant Counseling, offering a comprehensive, team approach to treating eating disorders and related issues, addressing the concerns of both the individual and the family.
With training in family-based therapy, experiential therapy, and clinical supervision, Anna enjoys working with individuals and families in the areas of eating disorders, body image issues, eating disorder education and support, relationship conflict, family of origin issues, depression, anxiety, and family or couple issues. Anna is available for individual, couple, or family sessions, along with supervision appointments for Associate Licensed Counselors in the state of Alabama.
Hope, Help and Healing
Anna draws from her significant experience as a therapist in private practice, in a residential eating disorder treatment facility, and in college counseling services to work effectively with individuals as well as with parents or spouses. Much of her work helps her clients in the areas of boundaries and education, towards the restoration of relationships.

WHAT TO EXPECT
A first session typically begins by meeting the counselor and going over a few aspects related to confidentiality. The counselor will want to know what brings you to the office and will often try to gain a better sense of additional contexts. Depending on the situation, you may begin to develop initial hopes or goals for your time together, to provide greater clarity on the focus of your counseling.
Our counselors work to provide a supportive and caring environment. Issues or dynamics can then be explored and addressed towards facilitating the needed or desired change.
