Bulimia

Eating Disorders, specifically Bulimia and Anorexia, affect as many as 25 million individuals in America. A life-threatening disease, individuals with Eating Disorders have the highest mortality rate of all mental health disorders. Often difficult to identify early, they carry great risks if left untreated.

Bulimia (or Bulimia Nervosa) is a secretive disease involving a regular pattern of binge eating and purging (consuming a large amount of food in a short time, then expelling it from the body). Many individuals who struggle with bulimia are at a normal weight, but view their bodies in a distorted way. The physical affects of bulimia, as one would expect, are significant, as the body is unable to retain needed nutrition.

Covenant Counseling offers individuals and families help with bulimia and other eating disorders. Our ReVive Program is a team approach involving several areas. Usually in consultation with a physician, counseling for the affected individual, for the family or spouse, as well as with a dietitian are all scheduled. The program offers all involved hope for recovery and a right relationship with food.
