Alice Haygood Churnock, MA
Licensed Professional Counselor
Alice Haygood Churnock is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a strong background in public speaking. She earned her Masters degree in Agency Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her Bachelors Degree in Corporate Journalism from Auburn University.
Alice specializes in counseling adolescents and parents in areas relating to behavior modification, depression, eating disorders and body image, and stress and anger management. In addition, she is certified to administer and interpret the Myers-Briggs type Indicator, which is frequently used in her work with family counseling. She also has experience in play therapy, art therapy and psychoeducational group therapy.
To equip girls with the spiritual, mental and social skills necessary for late adolescence, Alice created the SNAP! (Sisters oN A Purpose) program for the middle school aged girls. SNAP!’s high intense week addresses issues of friendship, problem-solving, assertiveness skills, body image and much more.
Alice has both national and international experience leading seminars and groups for churches, schools, and other interested groups.
Anna Green Stanley, MA, LPC-S
Licensed Professional Counselor
Anna is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Clinical Supervisor. She is working primarily in the areas of women’s issues, family issues, and eating disorders. Anna earned a Masters of Arts in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Samford University.
Anna has worked in private practice, in college counseling services, as a Primary and Family Therapist for a local eating disorder treatment facility. Anna began the family program there, working with clients and their parents/spouses in the areas of boundaries, education and relational restoration. Through this family program, Anna led a free community support group for families with a loved one with an eating disorder every Thursday night for the last four years. Currently, Anna is one the founding members of the Revive Program here at Covenant Counseling. This program offers a comprehensive, treatment-team approach to working with eating disorders and related issues on the outpatient level. The program addresses the individual and family through individual counseling, family counseling and nutritional counseling. Groups will be available in early 2013.
Anna has had training in the Maudsley Family Based Therapy, Experiential Therapy, and Clinical Supervision. She enjoys working with women and families in the areas of eating disorders/body image issues, eating disorder education and support, relationship conflict, family of origin issues, depression, anxiety, and family/couple issues. Anna is available for individual, couples and family sessions, along with supervision appointments for Associate Licensed Counselors.
Anna and her husband live in the Birmingham, Alabama area with their two sons and Brittany Spaniel. They enjoy cooking, traveling, music and spending time with family and friends.
Suzanne Pirkle, MA, RD, LD
Licensed & Registered Dietitian
Suzanne Eleazer-Pirkle is a Licensed and Registered Dietitian. She earned her Masters degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her Bachelors Degree in Nutrition from the University of Mississippi. Suzanne specializes in nutrition counseling of adults and adolescents in areas relating to eating disorders, weight management, and sports nutrition.
Suzanne completed her dietetics internship at UAB and completed a fellowship in the treatment of adolescents with eating disorders through the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. In addition, she is certified by CDR for weight management.
Suzanne believes that healthful eating is within everyone’s reach yet recognizes the nutritional a dietary challenges that come with each client to help the individual develop a healthier, more intuitive, sustainable relationship with food.
