Food is the fuel of the human body and mind, allowing us to grow and thrive. In today’s fast-paced society and with busy schedules, increased work hours, and commute challenges, growing numbers of individuals and families turn to fast food and processed food for their nutrition. As this trend grows, we see an increase in obesity and its effects (including affecting our mood, increased blood pressure, heart issues, high cholesterol, diabetes and reduced immune system functioning). For others, consultation with a nutritionist can provide the necessary information to optimize athletic performance, or simply to learn better options available to plan family meals.
Nutrition Counseling broadly describes engagement with a nutritionist to provide individuals and families information and tools needed to begin practicing healthy eating habits. Nutrition and Diet Counseling includes sessions a registered dietitian to assess an individual’s particular needs and hopes. From that initial assessment, the counselor and client can then discuss eating patterns, current food intake, and personalized methods to start on a more healthy way of eating.
The Registered and Licensed Dietitian at Covenant Counseling works with each person to help him or her reach their goals for a more healthy life. If you would like to make an appointment or have any questions, please call 205-879-7500. Click here if you would like to email one of our counselors.
