Kent Michael, MEd, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Kent is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). After completing his undergraduate degree from Samford University, he completed his Master’s in Education in Marriage and Family Counseling from the University of Montevallo. He is currently completing a PhD in Educational Psychology at The University of Alabama (expected completion in 2017).
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, Kent works with individuals, couples and families on a wide range of issues. Some of his areas of interest include marriage counseling, pre-marital counseling, family counseling, identity development, parenting issues, grief and loss, spiritual issues, anxiety and depression, personality development and more. He has a particular interest in working with faculty members and students in higher education.
Kent is certified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), as well as the Prepare-Enrich Assessments (especially useful for pre-marital counseling).
In addition to his practice as a therapist and his doctoral work, Kent is also an adjunct professor both at Samford University and the University of Montevallo. He is married, and the father of two children.
